Workshop on
Function Spaces and Applications
July 6-12, 2008, in Freyburg/Unstrut (Germany)
First Announcement
The Research
Group "Function spaces" in
the Mathematical
Institute of the
Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena organises a workshop on "Function Spaces and Applications" in
Freyburg/Unstrut.
It is our intention to concentrate on various aspects of the theory of
function spaces which are relevant in applications to partial differential
operators, spectral theory, and fractal analysis. The topics of interest
include, but are not limited to:
- Morrey-Type Spaces
- Weighted Function Spaces and Inequalities
- Embeddings and Envelopes
- Extensions and Traces
The conference is an essential part of the German-Russian research
project "Function spaces adapted to applications in partial differential equations,
spectral theory, and fractal analysis". It is mainly funded by
the DFG (436 RUS 113/903/0-1).
- Lectures
The programme of the conference consists of invited main lectures (speakers as
above) and a limited number of short communications given by the
participants.
We are glad that the following speakers accepted our invitation to
give plenary lectures
-
Oleg V. Besov, Steklov Institute Moscow / Russia,
-
Viktor I. Burenkov, Peoples Friendship University of Russia, Moscow / Russia,
-
Michail Gol'dman, Peoples Friendship University of Russia, Moscow / Russia,
-
Dorothee D. Haroske, Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena / Germany ,
-
Luboš Pick, Charles University Prague / Czech Republic,
-
Hans Triebel, Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena / Germany .
Please indicate your intention to give a talk and do not forget to send us your
abstract in the enclosed (preliminary) registration form ! There will be an
opportunity for ad hoc-seminars.
- Venue
The Conference will take place in the
Berghotel zum Edelacker in Freyburg/Unstrut
situated in a beautiful countryside about 50 km north of Jena.
This region is
popular as an old wine-growing country with more than 1000 years tradition,
Freyburg itself being the centre of this most northerly wine-growing area
within Europe. One of the oldest champagne producers in Germany,
"Rotkäppchen" (reminding of
the fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood") is based
in Freyburg.
The
town is embedded into a cultural and
historically distinct landscape, linked by the famous `Route of Romanesque',
including, in particular, the picturesque
town Naumburg with its famous
cathedral "St. Peter and Paul", the prehistoric
sites within
the "Natural
Reserve Saale-Unstrut-Triasland" and, directly adjacent to our
hotel, the impressive old
castle "Schloss
Neuenburg". This huge castle on the east side of the Unstrut
river valley was founded around 1090 by a Thuringian count, its
double chapel, built between 1170 and 1200, is still an
architectural treasure.
The town is also famous for its
son Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, a
historic personality often called "the father of gymnastics" in Germany.
Naumburg, only a few kilometers away from Freyburg, has direct fast train
connections to Berlin and Frankfurt/Main.
- Costs
The accommodation is arranged at the hotel in single and double
rooms with full board (buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner). The
price is 95 € per night and person
in a single room and 76 € per night and person in a double
room. The conference fee is 60 €.
- Registration
If you are interested please complete
the preliminary
registration form and return it to us
before January 31, 2008.
Alternatively (and preferably), you can also pre-register online.
Please note that the number of places is limited.
The second announcement with further details will be mailed until the end of March 2008.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Freyburg.
