Abstract
The concepts of differentiation arithmetic are compared with real arithmetic, complex arithmetic and general computer arithmetic. The implementation of differentiation arithmetic is looked at in an optimal way, in the context of roundoff errors, for both partial derivatives and Taylor coefficients.
