Abstract
A computational technique is described that can perform the simultaneous evaluation of a measurement function and the associated combined standard uncertainty. The uncertainty equation is automatically derived from the measurement function and need not be provided separately. The technique is based on automatic differentiation. It is simple, efficient, accurate and easy to implement in software.
